This product (LiHMDS) is a light yellow transparent liquid with tetrahydrofuran as the solvent. It is generally prepared into a dilute solution with a molar concentration of 1.0-1.3M.

Uses

Non-nucleophilic strong base, can be used in reactions to form enols, stereospecific Claisen rearrangements of enol esters, reactions to convert aldehydes to silimines, reactions to generate glycidyl esters, reactions of beta lactams, selective cleavage reaction of arylalkyl ethers.
